FIREMEN from Bolton's four stations are joining colleagues from across the region in a 400-mile sponsored cycle ride from Manchester, England, to Manchester, France.
The kind-hearted firefighters are undertaking the marathon cycle ride in aid of Greater Manchester Fire Service's smoke alarm appeal.
GMP with the help of Help the Aged has been running a campaign to provide smoke detectors free of charge to the over-60s. Firemen even fit the devices free of charge on a voluntary basis during their own time.
The fearless firefighters set off on the gruelling ride tomorrow from Manchester town hall.
It is hoped that £10,000 will be raised for the appeal from the marathon cycle.
