THE names of those forming India's interim Government will be announced before the British Cabinet Mission leaves India, it was learned today. Both Mr Gandhi and Pandit Nehru today declared themselves as sure that India will soon be free. Mr Nehru said: "The freedom that is coming will not be of Hindu or Moslems, but of the 400,000,000 people of India."

THE first and principal portion of the new Manchester Royal Exchange is now rapidly approaching completion. The arms of four manufacturing towns - Manchester, Liverpool, Salford and Preston - have been placed in the pediments of the windows on two sides of the towers flanking the principal front facing Cross-street. The arms of Manchester are supported by figures representing machinery and spinning, Salford by weaving and yarn dyeing, Preston by spinning and mining, and Liverpool by commerce and navigation. The towns of Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Wigan and Ashton are to be illustrated in a similar manner, and the building will thus be made to present a typified history of the Lancashire district in stone.
