THE Government's wheat economy plans will be announced in detail soon, and will come into force immediately. They will continue indefinitely and sacrifices will be expected from everyone. But there will be no bread rationing. However, the economies will mean darker bread, a reduction in the size of the loaf, severe restrictions on cakes and pastries, and perhaps less barley for beer.
MR ADAMS continues to receive a liberal amount of patronage at his circus; and the audience appear to be highly delighted with the entertainments. Another change has been made in the programme, and fresh novelties imparted to the bill of fare. Mr Emmett introduces a goat, which rides round the ring on the back of a horse with as much unconcern as though it was "to the manner born." Mr Bell made his first appearance last night, and was very successful in exciting the risible faculties of the audience.
