POLICEMEN are not soldiers and it is inappropriate that they should salute senior officers.
We accept that the police saluting policy is still in existence, but we suggest that Greater Manchester Chief Constable David Wilmot should only insist it is used only for showing respect to funeral corteges and not for boosting egos.
