FEARS are receding that Leigh Centurions' loan star David Lyon is facing a long spell out through injury.
Lyon, the ex-Great Britain ace on loan from St Helens, went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury in Leigh's runaway win over Prescot Panthers on Sunday.
Coach Ian Lucas admits he feared the worst when he saw Lyon clutch at his knee. "My first thought was ligament damage," says the Leigh boss who has seen his side decimated by injury this season.
"But it's not as serious as we first thought. The physio is confident there is no ligament damage and that the knee is just badly bruised."
"We've no game now until May 5 so I'm confident that Dave will have recovered by then."
