LEIGH RMI 1 RADCLIFFE BORO 1

KEVIN Booth, Leigh RMI's assistant manager, believes the club has unearthed a gem in recent signing Graham Leishman, who scored his third goal in as many starts in the draw with Radcliffe.

Booth reckons that after a summer's training the striker will be a revelation next season.

"He has come to the club after a bad injury but has already shown tremendous ability and we are just hoping it is not a flash in the pan", says Booth.

"He is good in the air and holds the ball up well before bringing team mates into the game and he scores goals as well".

Leishman earned the Railwaymen a well deserved point five minutes after in-form Radcliffe, who are now unbeaten in nine games having won five of them, had taken the lead.

Chris Walmesley's inswinging corner was flicked on at the near post by Paul Kirkham and Leishman headed past the helpless Andy Johnston.

Substitute Frankie Bunn had opened the scoring the 67th minute when he bravely met Ian Lunt's low cross with a diving header that Michael Allison could only watch fly into the far corner. Leigh finished the stronger with Johnston denying Kirkham and Graham Haddon clearing off the line from Leishman, although a mix-up between Allison and Mick Charlton almost presented Lunt with a late winner.

"Leishman was our star man but it was also a good team effort and we showed character to battle back after going a goal behind and in the end we could have won it", said Booth.
