A REMOVAL firm boss saved his entire stock by driving his vans away from a raging blaze engulfing his other vehicles.

Tony Daley jumped into one van already on fire in his frantic effort to save his business.

And today, thanks to the director's quick thinking and the help of another removal firm, bosses at Daley's Removals were able to reassure customers that it would be "business as usual".

Firemen are still investigating the cause of the blaze, which started at 10pm last night outside Tony's home in Laburnum Street, Atherton.

Four vans containing materials belonging to the company were destroyed in the fire.

But Tony's actions saved another two large vans and one smaller van which was scorched.

Today his brother and fellow director, Chris Daley, praised his actions: "Tony did a good job and now we are determined to let people know that we are able to resume normal business.

"We will be keeping our commitment to all our customers and have made sure that we can cover all the jobs booked in.

"We have been going for 48 years and times have been hard with the recession, but we do not intend this to set us back.

"Another removal firm in the area has lent us a vehicle, ensuring we will be able to cope.

"The fire and damage caused is obviously devastating, but I am just thankful no one was hurt."

Three fire crews attending the blaze and fought the fire for more than two hours.
