A DAD is celebrating today after scooping £106,000 on a bingo game.

The 32-year-old man, who does not want to be named, but comes from the Wigan area, won the cash on the national bingo game at the Top Rank Club in Bolton on Saturday night.

The Ashburner Street club's assistant manager, Liam Watkinson, said: "It was great news to have a local winner. We were all really pleased."

Mr Watkinson said bingo was gaining in popularity once again after a fall in numbers, thought to be as a result of the National Lottery.

He said: "Bingo has been picking up again over the last few months and we are delighted."

Last December, the club had a big win when Horwich great grandmother Jean Arrowsmith scooped more than £108,000 in the national game, just hours after a burglary at her home.

Mr Watkinson added: "It was good to have another winner at our club."
