Bolton Wanderers Reserves 1 Wolves Reserves 2. WANDERERS Reserves slipped up at Burnden Park last night when relegation-threatened Wolves ran out 2-1 winners.

In a game that produced plenty of chances, Wolves had the opportunity of opening the scoring in the fourth minute when they were awarded a dubious penalty.

Wanderers young 'keeper Matthew Glennon, playing his first Pontins League game at Burnden, dived to his right to turn away Robbie Dennison's spot kick.

At the other end, Wolves 'keeper Lee Hook did well to block a close range effort from Scott Taylor, but it was the visitors who went ahead in the 25th minute when an angled shot from Richard Flash found the net. Five minutes later Bolton were level. Stuart Whittaker received a cross-field pass from David Lee before running forward to cut in and blast the equaliser from 16 yards out.

Wolves went back in front 11 minutes after the interval when Glen Crowe flicked the ball up and volleyed into the roof of the net. From then on it was virtually one-way traffic but Bolton couldn't force an equaliser. The 'keeper denied both Scott Green and Fabian de Freitas with spectacular saves, Green had a close effort cleared off the line, David Lee shot across the face or goal with the target as his mercy and Whittaker hit the bar.

Team: Glennon, McAnespie (Hallows) Small, Green, Todd, Strong, Lee, Burnett, de Freitas, Taylor (Powell), Whittaker.
