THE chief executive of the Engineering Training Authority, Michael Sanderson, visited Bolton Training Group head office in Horwich to unveil a plaque marking the company's appointment as an Approved Assessment Centre. The appointment secures a place for BTG within a network of centres approved to deliver all of EnTra's national vocational qualifications in engineering. This covers areas ranging from machining, fabrication and welding to electrical maintenance and electronics.
Mr Sanderson said that BTG's proven capacity to support previous EnTra initiatives had made it a natural choice.
"The speed of the process in this case is a great credit to the professionalism of BTG's staff," he said.
Bolton Training Group is one of the largest providers of engineering NVQs in the area. David Guthrie, BTG's chief executive, said that Approved Assessment Centre status was an important step for engineers in the region.
"The appointment will underline our credibility in the marketplace where the benefits of NVQs are gaining widespread," he added.
