INDUSTRY inspectors have praised the high quality levels of teaching at Bolton Institute's school of engineering.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) gave Bolton top marks during a recent visit.
In a written report to Institute principal Dr Bob Oxtoby IMechE academic standards committee spokesman Alan Lightley praised the enthusiasm and commitment of staff.
He added: "The quality of students, staff, course content, research and consultancy activity and industrial links matched and in some cases surpassed the standard we have seen in some universities." Head of the engineering school Dr Danny Morton said: "To receive such a glowing assessment from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers is pleasing.
"More than that it is a major contribution to Bolton Institute's case for early recognition of its claim to university status."
