FARNWORTH accountant Robert Jackson, has been elected to the Council of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Robert, 42, from Bury, is the managing partner with Thomson Morley Jackson, which, based in Farnworth and Manchester, is one of the largest certified accountancy practices in the UK.

During the past 16 years, he has been involved with the ACCA's activities at both regional and national level. He was president of the Manchester District Society and the ACCA's Practice Society.

He is a member of both the ACCA Audit Committee and the working party for the Auditing Practices Board which deals with small company audit issues.

He is also an external examiner at Liverpool John Moores University.

His election to the Council means that Robert is a member of the representative and governing body of the ACCA.

He is due to serve a three year term.

The Council acts as the link between members and their professional body, and ensures that the Association acts in the public interest by setting and maintaining the ethical and professional standards of its members.
