RE article "I won't shut up vows defiant Tory" (Bolton Evening News, October 27). RIP Democracy, October 2005, in Bolton Town Hall, close companion of the late FREE SPEECH will be sadly missed by all those who thought they might assist in its recovery by using their votes. Sadly, this was not to be.
Cremation of the ballot boxes and voting slips took place behind closed doors, attended only by elected members wearing ceremonial gags. The ashes were scattered in Bolton Council chambers.
