RADCLIFFE Borough striker Steve Foster can't wait to get back into action this weekend against Wakefield and Emley after a frustrating clutch of abandoned matches writes Marc Higginson

Boro have had two league games postponed since they beat Bradford Park Avenue a couple of weeks ago, but did manage to get 120 minutes under their belts when they beat Atherton Collieries in the Lancashire Marsden Trophy on Monday night.

"It's been disappointing to keep having our games abandoned because other teams are playing and getting points on the board, said Fozzie'.

"However, it was good to get 120 minutes in our legs on Monday night and we are more than capable of getting three points on Saturday.

"It was a good result up at Bradford and everyone did really well. I'm hoping the tables have turned now and we can get on a roll and start climbing that table."

And Foster is enjoying life with his new strike partner, Rod Thornley, and hopes the duo can fire Boro towards the league's upper echelons. Thornley is unavailable for Saturday but should start against Colwyn Bay on Tuesday.

Foster enthused: "The manager has made a few good signings and it's nice to have somebody up-front with me because we were struggling for bodies.

"Obviously, Rod's a new face and we have to get used to playing with each other but he's a good player and the goals should come for us both.

"The defence is starting to keep the goals out, so we just need to score the goals now!"

The popular frontman also sees no reason why Boro, with a bit of luck, can't challenge for the top few places in the UniBond Premier League.

The striker said: "There's one team every year who makes a late surge and, hopefully, this year it will be us.

"I hope a few of the teams fall away and then anything is possible.

"We work hard in training and I think we deserve to get some rewards and I hope that means getting out of this division through promotion!

Foster also hopes to combine a surge in the league with a cup run starting with next Tuesday's home clash with Colwyn Bay in the UniBond Challenge Trophy.

He said: "A cup run is always nice and I'm pleased we managed to get through against Atherton on Monday night - despite the conditions.

"We now have the chance to progress in another competiton on Tuesday and I'm sure we have the ability to beat Colwyn Bay."
