RESIDENTS on an Atherton estate were invited to help improve the community spirit and get fit at a Saturday school sports day.
Hag Fold families were offered the chance to improve their football skills, take part in pilates and street dance and try their hand at rock climbing on a mobile wall, all under the watchful eye of experts and qualified instructors.
The event, hopefully the first of many, was organised by the community team based at Hesketh Fletcher High School, and took place at St George's Primary School on the estate.
The team's sports development co-ordinator Stuart Fisher said: "There is a community team of 10 members and we organised the free event to improve community spirit in the area as well as encouraging residents of all ages to take part in a variety of sports and get fitter. Hopefully it will be the first of many such days."
