BURY Council never ceases to amaze me. According to the news this week they have found £170,000 for speed warning signs. The position of one of them is at the bottom of Brandlesholme Road, not 50 yards from the traffic lights.
Why do we need one there when for most of the day and evening the traffic is gridlocked?
I could have understood if it had been three miles further up the road, with three primary schools. All this money wasted, when once again they are overspent.
The councillors in their wisdom are cutting grants to voluntary groups who in the main look after vulnerable people.
There have already been serious cuts in social services, which will affect thousands of disabled people and their carers.
I have voted Labour all my life, but believe me since this council changed to their so-called Cabinet everything has been decided behind closed doors.
I hope the voters remember this when the new council tax bill arrives in the New Year.
