WHAT a rosy picture Dr Jameson paints for future patients receiving treatment in the modernised NHS ('Fairfield: excellent reasons for change'. Letters,December 8).
We all want to be seen by the surgeon who is best suited to carry out the operation we may need, but do not want to have to travel many miles from home for it. A very important part of the recovery process is for the patient to see familiar faces, giving encouragement and comfort.
Visiting during weekdays could be very difficult if not impossible for relatives and friends of a patient in hospital far from home. Where is the humanity in these proposals?
