THE sporting community came together to honour the tragically short life of footballer Danny Young.
On what would have been the evening of his 17th birthday, players and parents from local soccer and rugby clubs attended the Danny Young Memorial Dinner Dance at Hilton Park, Leigh.
Through the generosity of distinguished guests, a raffle and an auction of donated sporting merchandise, a substantial amount of money was raised for the Memorial Fund set up in memory of Danny who collapsed while playing for Atherton LR in September.
His parents Craig and Dionne announced that the Fund would be used for the cardiac testing of young local sports stars as well as supporting local sports clubs.
