LITTER louts have been warned - you're 'bin' watched!
The next phase of Bury's "No Excuses" campaign starts in January with a "carrot and stick" approach to educating people.
The council's Bin Watch scheme will target specific bins in each ward. Residents who drop litter will get a warning or a £50 fixed penalty notice, while those who put their rubbish in the bin will receive a raffle ticket for a prize draw on February 14. The winners will be published in the Bury Times.
Officers have already taken their message into schools, while pubs, fast food outlets and buses have been provided with posters.
Top prize in the draw is a personal computer donated by Portfolio Art & Design of Bolton, while McDonald's Restaurants has donated vouchers. Any businesses which want to get involved or donate a prize should call Chris Eardley on 0161 253 6197.
