CHRISTMAS came a step closer this weekend for a group of youngsters when Lloyd the pony trotted into Rudolph's role and brought them festive cheer.
Lloyd, owned by teenager Charlotte Brookes, pulled a cart decorated as a sleigh complete with its own Santa to a children's party at Dunscar Conservative Club, Hardmans Lane, Bromley Cross.
Charlotte, aged 18, whose mum Debra is a member of the club, said: "It was a lovely event. About 30 children aged four to 10 had a party at the club.
"As my mum is a member she had the idea that we could use Lloyd to pull Father Christmas as entertainment.
"The children loved it, they were screaming with excitement when they saw the pony and cart. I was dressed as Mrs Claus and led Lloyd around the car park, I think Lloyd enjoyed himself too.
"He looked very good with his cart, which was covered in tinsel and looked very seasonal."
