BOTH St Mary's teams had convincing wins in the Bath Shoppe B Section this week.

Best performance came from the A team who are at the wrong end of the table but came away from their match with fellow strugglers Tottington C with a 7-2 result.

A 5-0 win at dominoes gave them the Fork Lift Training Roll Up prize.

Daz Holt started things off brightly for the home side, taking the opening frame 65-43 though Jim Coleman levelled the match, on a re-spotted black, after a clearance of 27 by his opponent.

The net frame was decided on the final black, in favour of the home side, this was, however, to be their last success.

A high-scoring frame of 161 points went to Paul Dudley by the narrowest of margins while Maurice Ryder and Geoff Farrington had emphatic wins, Geoff's 109-32.

St Mary's B brought Walshaw B back to earth, winning 6-2 at the Catholic Club.

Star performer was Simon Bowkett whose 87-43 frame contained breaks of 42 and 25 and keeps his team in the title race.

Radcliffe Central B won a close encounter at Elton Luib A thanks mainly to good performances by their first two players.

Chris Nickelson top scored with an 81-65 frame.

Two black balls were shared before the Lib began their fightback, only to fall just 9 points short.

A local derby at Bury Snooker Club went to the D team. Their success was mainly due to Steve Ryan's 77-33 frame which included a 25 break.

Earlier, Michael Berry had needed a break of 34 to win on the final black.

In the final frame, Mark Foulger had put himself, and his team in with a great chance.

A 28 break had left him eight points in front of Mike Nortley and having to pot pink and black for the match.

Alas for Mark, it was Mike who held his nerve and took the two final balls for a notable win.

Buchanans top the Bullitt Taxis C Section after a 7-1 win at home to Whitefield Bowling Club.

Top performances came from Frank Kennedy 72-38 and Jason Taylor 98-29.

Bury Bridge are just one point behind after they registered a similar scoreline at home to Tottington B.

Graham Spencer 70-25 and Tony Nolan 59-20 both won convincingly.

John Holt's 90-17 frame win helped clinch a 7-2 result for Stanley A at Central A. Graham Shotton replied for the Snooker Club, taking his frame 88-34, but Tony Filidoro took the final frame and match for the visitors.

A see-saw match between Huntley D and Whitefield Snooker saw the visitors take the match 6-3 in a thriller.

Antony Harrison and P. Bersz took the opening frames for the home side and established a lead of almost a hundred chalks.

Mark Cassel hit back, taking the next frame 84-46, only for Paul Anderson to put the Duck Club into a 3-1 lead.

Eddie Taylor produced an excellent performance, taking the next frame 102-29, leaving just four points in the aggregate.

Keith Henderson held on to win the final frame by four chalks and take the aggregate by two!

Heywood Reform produced a top performance in the Irwell Street Metals A Section, overcoming Elton Lib B 7-1.

Frank McDougall took the opening frame for the visitors, this was to be their sole success.

Joe Noon won a close second frame with the aid of a 27 break.

Pete Morley clinched a 75-26 frame with a 33 clearance, while pride of place goes to a tidy performance by Danny Bleakley who compiled breaks of 38 and 31 clearance in the final frame.

Elton Fold won 7-2 at Huntley C thanks to convincing wins in the opening three frames.

Matt Thornton 85-25, Ryan Joyce 99-25 and Simon Fitzsimmons 108-51, gave the visitors an unassailable lead.

Tony and Brian Walsh took the final two frames for the home side.

Tottington D stay top after winning 6-3 at Walshaw A. John Allen took the first frame by the narrowweswt margin with the aid of a 27 break.

The third and fourth frames went down to the black and were both won by Walshaw.

A 27 break by John Daulby in the fifth frame was just not enough to prevent a narrow win for Matt Gilmore.

Andy Rhodes gave fifty start in the final frame but ran out a 98-66 winner to secure the aggregate points.

Elton Lib moved into second spot with a 5-3 home win over Salisbury B.

Three of the first four frames were decided on the black, the third frame being a re-spotted black by Mick Campbell.

At 3-1 down Russ Howarth won the fifth frame 75-41 and Phil Hamer took the final frame as the Lib secured victory.
