Police and trading standards officers in Bury are urging shops to act responsibly when selling off-road bikes this Christmas to help stop them being used illegally.

Throughout Thursday, officers along with the Vehicle Inspectorate, visited a numbers of shops across the borough to ensure that off-road bikes, mini-motos, go-peds, electric scooters and quad bikes are safe and fit for purpose when they are sold and that customers are fully informed of the legal regulations governing their use.

The aim is to reduce the number of incidents involving the illegal use of off-road bikes within the Bury area and improve the quality of life for residents.
