YOUNG adults are being warned to go careful with credit this Christmas.
Bury's trading standards department has joined a national campaign, "Be choosy about credit", to help those aged 18 to 24.
Surveys show that this age group is the most likely to spend the holidays worrying about mounting debts and outgoings. Research suggests that young men were more likely to use their credit cards on having nights out, while women used them to buy expensive presents.
Officers urge people to work out the costs of different types of credit, and shop around for the best deal.
