TRAFFIC calming measures are to be introduced near to a school in Walkden to improve safety for pupils and parents.
Salford City Council has approved a proposal to introduce "Safer Routes to School" at St George's High School in Parsonage Drive.
Red patches and slow markings are to be implemented along Manchester Road East to Tynesbank to make drivers aware of St George's school crossing.
The proposal was approved following nine collisions involving children, four of which were serious, in a period from November, 2001 to October, 2004. The scheme will cost £24,000.
Salford City Council's lead member for planning Cllr Derek Antrobus said: "These measures are designed to make sure that drivers are aware of road conditions."
