MORE improvements have been planned for Kearsley railway station in the New Year as part of an ongoing £600,000 project.

Pedestrian and vehicle access will be improved when the new work begins on January 9.

It will see the renovation of car parking and drop off facilities, a new footpath and the resurfacing of Station Road between Davis Street and the station.

It is expected that the latest phase of work, which has been funded by Bolton Council and the Greater Manchester PTE, will take about six weeks. Work has already been carried out to install CCTV cameras, revamp platform lighting, and cut back overgrown shrubbery to tidy up the station area.
