A SECOND mobile telephone mast is to be erected in one Prestwich street despite concerns from residents.
Members of Bury Councils planning control committee gave the go-ahead at a meeting on Tuesday for Vodafone to build a 13.3-metre-high mast on Whittaker Lane.
The mast will be close to the Metrolink station at Heaton Park and shops and homes in the area, and seven letters of objection were received by the planning office from residents and staff at nearby St Monicas High School.
A similar application was approved by the committee in June for a T-Mobile mast just 24 metres away from the new mast.
