SAM Allardyce has warned Jussi Jaaskelainen he could be sold, unless he ends a contract dispute that is threatening his Reebok future.

The Wanderers keeper has still not signed the three-year deal he agreed last summer because he objects to a particular clause in the contract.

Talks have broken down and there are no plans to re-open negotiations, which has led to speculation that the club's longest serving player could be on his way out - possibly as early as next month, with Arsenal reported to be monitoring developments.

"There's a stand-off over a contract that other players have signed here and which he won't," Allardyce said.

"And we don't think we should give something to him that we don't give to the others.

"It's not a football matter, it's a legal matter and it's something that can't be resolved.

"In the end, we'll do what we need to do.

"He's a valuable asset and, if he isn't going to sign a contract, the club may wish to cash in at some stage, whether that be in January or at the end of the season.

"If he still hasn't resolved his situation, that will probably be the case."

Jaaskelainen, who joined Wanderers in November 1997 from VPS Vassa, has established himself as one of the top keepers in the Premiership.

There were rumours last season that Sir Alex Ferguson was keen to take him to Manchester United, but doubts over his Reebok future appeared to have been resolved when Wanderers announced last summer that they had agreed a new three-year deal with the Finland international.

Now, following confirmation that he never actually put pen to paper and that he has only 18 months to run on his existing contract, doubts have arisen again.

Allardyce refused to give any details of the nature of the clause Jaaskelainen and his agent, Peter Harrison, are objecting to but it is understood to involve the structure of his payments.

"Peter Harrison tells me he's got a club for him," the Wanderers boss added, "but nobody's made us an offer. Is that why he he hasn't signed his contract?"

Wanderers have also hit a snag in contract talks with Tal Ben Haim, although it is not thought to be the same problem as Jaaskelainen's.

The Israeli international, who has established himself as one of the rising stars of the Premiership since arriving at the Reebok from Maccabi Tel Aviv 18 months ago, is looking or a substantial improvement to his contract. Chelsea are reported to have shown an interest.
