FUNDRAISERS will be putting their best foot forward when they compete in a three-legged event for cancer research.

But they will be hoping to complete the course without becoming legless - for the rules require each team to have a drink in each of Edgworth's six pubs.

Many of those taking part will be wearing fancy dress for the event, on December 28, at The Barlow Institute, Bolton Road, Edgworth and money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.

The event starts at noon for people who have secured £200 corporate sponsorship, followed at 1pm by competitors in fancy dress who have paid an entry fee.

The event, now in its 33rd year, was started by a group of friends from Edgworth, Turton - Gordon Childs, Andy Childs, Steve Simpson, Roland Turner and Dave Hulme - in remembrance of Mr Simpson's mother who died of cancer.

An entry fee of £12 per couple can be paid on the day.
