MIDDLEBROOK Retail Park was hailed as an "outstanding success story" by Horwich councillors who who gave their backing proposals to expand the site.
Councillors on Horwich Town Council's Planning Committee supported plans submitted by Orbit Developments who want to build three more retail units in part of the car park opposite Asda.
They also gave the go ahead to plans for a two-storey car park opposite Asda, with 239 ground level spaces and 213 spaces on the upper level. This is to compensate for the loss of parking spaces resulting from the new retail units.
Cllr Kevan Helsby said the move showed what confidence retailers had in the site and added: "It was a success from when it started and it continues to grow."
The plans will now go to Bolton Council which will decide whether they will get final approval.
