COMMUNITY-spirited school children helped spread a little festive cheer.
Pupils from Withins School and Smithills delivered Christmas hampers to the elderly and the needy in the area.
The parcels contained mince pies, pudding and other goods which were donated by pupils and local businesses.
Phil Mather, headteacher of Withins School, Breightmet, said: "The students and members of staff are thrilled to be involved in this project.
"It is important at this time of year that we think of those less fortunate than ourselves and help them in whatever way we can."
