A MEMORIAL concert is being held to raise cash for the Fred Dibnah Appeal Fund.

Proceeds from the concert, on Friday, February 17, at Derby Ward Labour Club, Deane Road, Bolton, will go to the appeal which is run by the Bolton and District Civic Trust and supported by the Bolton Evening News, to provide a lasting tribute to the famous steeplejack who died in 2004 from cancer.

The line up for the night will include cabaret entertainer Reg Coates, Boltons Jeriatric Jazz, and the evening will be compered by Fred Fielder from BBC GMR Radio.

Mr Bill Greenhalgh, from the Civic Trust, said: "It will be a great night out and it is for a good cause. We want to make as much money as we can for the Appeal."

Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from Mr Greenhalgh on 01204 695026, or from V Ottley on 846730, B Pike on 593257, or from Booths Music Shop, Churchgate, Bolton.

The plan is to incorporate a statute of Fred within an extension of the Hick Hargreaves steam engine display which is enclosed in a glass box at the end of Oxford Street.

Anyone wanting to make a donation to the appeal should send their cheques to Lloyds TSB, Hotel Street, Bolton, or hand them in at any Lloyds TSB branch.
