Recently, my wife and I were travelling in England and found ourselves one evening in Bolton attempting to visit one of my relatives.

After some difficulty with directions, buses and such, we became lost on Bury Road (I think).

Struggling with luggage and tired from the day's events, we stumbled into a store called Wise Buys Discount announcing that we were lost, and asked if we could use the telephone.

After explaining our predicament, the proprietor of the shop kindly took it upon himself to deliver us to our destination (somewhere off Somerton Road).

This task itself proved difficult, in that he required assistance to discover the correct street.

He was helped in this endeavour by some passers-by and even his friend's wife.

Finally, we arrived safely at the home of my cousin. This generous gentleman refused any reward for his help.

In conclusion, I write to publicly recognise this good citizen of Bolton.

Individuals such as him are a credit to their community and deserve recognition.
