ONE of Alan Green's less publicised comments during his controversial commentary on the Liverpool game was the suggestion that he expected Wanderers to qualify for Europe again next season and, possibly, for the Champions League.

And the Radio Five Live man's words were echoed at the Reebok today when Stelios insisted the Whites still had their sights on a top four finish.

"Why not?" was the Greek international's response to those who question their credentials.

"We'll give our best, battle until the end of the season in every game, week in and week out, and well see where that gets us.

"We know it's going to be tough, but we have just come through the biggest and the toughest stage of the season very well and, hopefully, it will continue like that."

Stelios, who was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool before signing a new contract in the summer, believes Wanderers are in a false position going into this evening's derby duel with Blackburn at Ewood Park. They have two games in hand on their main rivals and will be looking to make that count when they eventually get round to playing catch-up when the games at home to Middlesbrough and away to Birmingham are fitted into the fixture schedule.

"Dont forget the two games in hand," he said. "The other teams are sleeping if they dont realise how many games we have played.

"This is a big advantage for us. If we take maximum points, we could have another six points more than we have now."
