The Boat Shed Water in Walkden has provided good sport in three matches over the last week.

Alan Munroe took the Thursday match with carp and tench for 31lbs-6ozs Second was Terry (who failed to supply his surname) with 22lbs-7ozs, third was Harry McCoy on 19lbs-8ozs and fourth was Trevor Hayes with 18lbs-2ozs The Sunday match saw better weights with 11 anglers catching over 19lbs.

Kevin Wharmby came out on top with 34lbs-0ozs, Alan Munroe was second with 29lbs-4ozs.

Alan Hayes made third with 28lbs-4ozs, just ahead of Alan McAtee who had 28lbs-4ozs. Harry McCoy was fifth with 27lbs-6ozs.

The last of the trio of matches was the Godfrey Arthur Memorial Match fished on Bank Holiday Monday and the cooler day saw a decrease in the weights. This was won by the mysterious Terry who returned 17lbs-5ozs Second was Kevin Wharmby with 12lbs-6ozs and third was Alan Munroe who had 11lbs-6ozs.

Lord Nelson AC has taken to waters new by trying out a couple of Lancashire Fisheries in their last two matches.

Former club champion Pat Power was back in the hunt for glory with a first and second place in the matches.

He won the Highfield Fisheries Match with carp taken on the pole with pellet for 18lbs-8ozs.

Trevor Bevin went for silver fish and his haul of 17lbs-14ozs was made up of skimmers and ide.

Barry Kaye was third with 9lbs-1ozs.

The minor places went to Ken Stewart 9lbs-0ozs, Martin Owen 8lbs-12ozs and Trevor Hayes 6lbs-12ozs.

The weights were better in last Saturdays match at Copthorne Fisheries in Nateby Mark Armitage finished in top place and also secured the bonus peg prize with carp and skimmers caught on the pole with pellet and cat meat for 20lbs-2ozs.

Pat Power was second with carp taken on pellet for18lbs-10ozs, Andy McKenzie made third with 17lbs-8ozs.
