To The Bones

To The Bones gigs have become legendary for uproarious behaviour, sweaty moshpits, full houses and near-delirious behaviour from the crowds.

The hardest-rocking band you will see for a long time, To The Bones have the ability to create noises that make your spine vibrate.

Take Pete Doherty's idealistic rock and roll dream, transfer it into the bodies of five people who can write songs that don't sound like they're made of dirty washing up water and can drink whisky without feeling the urge to tell the tabloids about it, add a touch of Keith Richards carefree waywardness, guitars with a life expectancy of around two hours and a rhythm section that could get themselves a job drilling roads, and you have To The Bones, the band that many other bands wish they could be.

Spit and Sawdust

Almost 30 years after the first DIY punk rock tour of Britain, Noize Anoize Music and Fungal Punk have got together to celebrate the anniversary of punk's birth. With a lineup of Northern bands, including Bolton's Kamikaze Sperm and Crouch Mog, the Spit and Sawdust tour will be three months of anarchy, if not across the UK, then at least across the North West.

The Spit and Sawdust tour kicks off at Blackburn's Cellar Bar on Saturday May 20. The bands will play Bones Skate Park, Bolton, on Sunday July 2. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/sastour06

The Right Stuff

And now for something completely different... Bolton tribute band the Right Stuff will be performing a wardrobe full of ABBA hits live for all those seventies nostalgia lovers, just waiting for an excuse to dig out their platforms. The first of a series of live performances, over the next few weeks Bolton will also see tribute acts performing songs from the 70s and 80s.

The Right Stuff, Yates's, Bradshawgate, Sunday.

iRequest

We really like this idea. Not only is the Soundhouse hosting L4T, Jethro and A2M on Saturday, but they are also having their first ever iRequest nights. Gig-goers are being encouraged to select a playlist of five tracks on their iPods and bring it along for the DJ to play. That's what we call the modern age.

Soundhouse, tomorrow, doors open 7pm.
