THIS year marks the 65th anniversary of the end of World War Two.

In 1945 Boltonians and the rest of the nation heard the news they had been longing for — first we had Victory in Europe Day and later in the year Victory in Japan Day signalling the end of the war.

The Bolton News is compiling a magazine to mark this historic milestone and we want help from readers.

If you have any wartime memories or photographs we would like to hear from you so we can use them in this special publication which will be published in October.

You may have stories of life in wartime Bolton, or perhaps a relative was involved and told you tales of life during the war that you want to share with us. Maybe you attended a victory street party and remember the euphoria that flooded the town. Or are you an old soldier with a story to tell? — we would love to hear from you.

The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes charities will benefit from the sale of the magazines with £1 from each sold being donated to these good causes. Anyone who has an interesting wartime photograph or a story to tell is invited to get in touch with features writer Gayle McBain on 01204 537349 or email gmcbain@theboltonnews.co.uk Include your name and telephone number if you are leaving a message or sending an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
