TENNIS: HORWICH teenager George Morgan was beaten in the final of the boys doubles at Wimbledon tonight, as his fairytale journey finally came to an end.
The 17-year-old and his partner, Lewis Burton, were beaten 7-6 (7/4) 6-4 by Liam Broady, from Stockport, and Tom Farquharson in an all-English final.
However, Morgan and Burton have plenty to be proud about after they knocked out top seeds Duilio Beretta and Roberto Quiroz in the second round and got the better of seeded German duo Peter Heller and Kevin Krawietz in Saturday’s semi-final.
Morgan and 18-year-old Burton, from Bromley, went ahead in the first game of the final when Broady dropped his serve but their opponents fought back and did not make any more major mistakes in the match.
