Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at Warburton's bread factory.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the building, on Hereford Street, Astley Bridge.
The fire started before 3pm today and it is thought to have started in an industrial oven.
Sixty firefighters and 10 fire engines turned up to the scene. An aerial platform has been used and the fire has been brought under control.
Around 300 people were evacuated but there have been no injuries.
