AMY LOUISE Aldred wowed X Factor judges when she was given three yes votes and a ticket to boot camp.

The 21-year-old, from Edgworth, appeared at the Manchester auditions in front of Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell and guest judge, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.

Amy Louise, of School Lane, Edgworth, previously auditioned for the show in 2006 as part of girl group Rio.

Rio became a local name, performing in pubs and clubs across Bolton, and performed at the Christmas lights switch-on in 2006.

But when they auditioned for X Factor, Rio did not get through.

Amy Louise auditioned again in 2008 on her own and got through to the boot camp stage of the competition, which she had to drop out of when her father fell ill.

With her dad well again, this year she felt it was time to audition again as a solo artist.

Amy Louise took to the stage in front of the three judges and a live audience and sang I Do Not Hook Up by Kelly Clarkson, which was aired on Saturday.

Amy said: “I auditioned in 2006, which is when Sharon Osborne was a judge. We didn’t get through, we weren’t ready.

“It’s been a difficult few years, but I auditioned again this year and went to boot camp, which has been amazing.”

Receiving three yes votes from the judges, Amy ran off stage to her mum, dad and close friends, who were waiting in the wings.

Her best friend, model Alexander James, said: “She was so good, she came running off stage into our arms and it was fantastic.

It was such a good day.”

Amy Louise is preparing to go into her final year at the University of Bolton, studying Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.

Viewers will be able to see how she did at boot camp on the X Factor on Saturday and Sunday on ITV1.
