COMEDIAN Bobby Ball has spoken about how he started his showbiz career in Farnworth.
The Oldham-born entertainer, who will be appearing with his long-term comedy partner Tommy Cannon at the Albert Halls on November 7, has spoken about how the pair got their big break on Bolton’s club circuit.
“We’re looking forward to coming to Bolton.
We started off at the nightclubs in Bolton years ago,” he said.
One of the first places we played was Blighty’s in Farnworth. We went down very well — there’s nothing like Northern audiences, they like to have a laugh.”
He will be accompanied by his sons, who perform under the name the Harper Brothers, and who appeared at Hawkers, in Gladstone Road, Farnworth, in February this year.
Cannon and Ball first started performing together more than 40 years ago, and have gone on to become on of Britain’s best loved double acts.
But Bobby said he could not identify the secret of their success.
“If I knew that I’d bottle it!” he said. “I think it’s simply that we have fun on stage at that comes across in the show.”
Tickets cost £12 and can be booked from the Albert Halls box office or by ringing 01204 334400.
