The Showcase kicks off with seven bands performing at Leverhule Park on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm. And admission is free!

To The Bones

What are you looking forward to at this year's Showcase?

Greetings, Boltonians and friends alike. This year my cosmic space jizzles. We are looking forward to performing in the open air for the first time in our entire lives with our musical instruments. We were so excited when we heard that we actually wee'd a little. To The Bones are playing outdoor, baby. Lock up your ice pops and send your cornettos to Columbia. The heavy alternative rock sounds are going to electrify your afternoon memory banks.

Why should people come and see you?

Why should people come and see us?! Are you mad? We are creators. We are artists. We are magicians. We are body poppers. That, my people, is all you have to know.

Out of the Gray

Can we expect on-stage craziness? I've got a wireless guitar and I've already said I'm stage diving even if there's only five people there to catch me. I know there'll be some crash barriers in front of the stage so I've got to go over them at some point.

What do you think of Bolton's music scene?

In the past three years, it's changed so much it's unrecognizable. The scene is strong and healthy now. At times it can be a bit oversaturated. There's a bit too many people trying to jump on the bandwagon at the moment, but it should settle and we'll have a scene to be proud of. People are already talking about the Bolton scene all over the country. There's at least half a dozen bands that are nationally "recognized" expect a few of them to break pretty soon.

Appease

What are you looking forward to at this year's Showcase?

Playing with all our friends. . . And hopefully not having our amps blow up this year!

Are you nervous about playing the Showcase?

Only about our amps blowing up.

Islands Lost At Sea

Are you planning any on-stage japes?

We're gonna see how many of the other bands we can get up on stage with us to play kazoos, sing Baaaaaaa and do mouth trumpet solos. None of the bands know this yet, but they'll find out soon enough.

Why should people come and see you?

Because we cater for people with the mentality of a child. If you like bouncing dance beats riddled with squelchy noises that suddenly take a U-turn into soft folk and Muppet-style vocals, we're your band. Plus we have a massive upright bass, which is always nice to have, and a guitarist called Bodge. I don't think I need to say any more, you should have been hooked at the "mentality of a child" bit.
