THE issue of organ donation is a modern-day phenomenon.
It is a life-saver that has brought joy to thousands of families over the past three decades and extended the lives of many.
In 1996, Bolton father-of-two Rob Hodgkiss had been diagnosed with a fatal heart infection and was staring death in the face.
But at the last minute he received a new heart, and 10 years later is enjoying life.
Father-of-two Rob points out that while many people have died waiting for an organ, his new heart has enabled him to live life to the full.
He is now calling for more people to sign up to the national Organ Donor Register so more people can be given the gift of life.
It is a simple thing to do and it could save the life of someone close to you.
