TWO Bolton allotment sites are holding events open to the public to show the wide range of vegetables and fruit they grow.
The Sapling Road Allotment Society in Morris Green will hold its annual show and open day on Sunday, from 1pm.
There will be horticultural exhibits, a produce stall, a gardening stall, face painting, tombola, raffle and home made teas.
Secretary Sharron Hardman said: "There has been an annual Show of the Sapling Road Allotments Society for many decades.
"In combining the show with an open day, we are trying to encourage novice and experienced gardeners to come along and see what we do."
On the same day, the Harpers Lane allotment growers in Smithills, are also staging a vegetable show with a trophy for Master Gardener. Member, Brian Caswell, said: "Each year we try and improve so next year is our centenary and we will be organising a fruit, flower and veg show to celebrate that.
"There will be raffles and a tombola, a barbecue and representatives from the police and fire brigades are also due to attend."
There is a waiting list for allotments in Bolton of up to three years.
