THE daughter of a former Bolton Wanderers star is celebrating after being named as one her employer's top managers.
Carol O'Brien, NatWest's regional manager for retail banking for the North-west, was voted the bank's top regional manager in her field.
She beat 18 other retail banking managers on the basis of sales and service results. Farnworth-born Carol is the daughter of Bolton Wanderers and Northern Ireland star Billy Hughes, who played for the club in the 1950s.
She attended a conference for a select number of NatWest's top performers in Athens, where Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York, and entertainer Lisa Tarbuck presented her with the award, recognising her achievements in delivering outstanding customer service.
After receiving the award, former Farnworth Grammar School pupil Carol, who now lives in Bromley Cross, said: "I never believed I would be recognised for my work in this way."
