A FUNDRAISING drive for Bolton Lads and Girls Club got off to a flying start when hundreds of pounds was raised at a charity event.
Youngsters from the club and adult volunteers washed hundreds of windscreens at Middlebrook retail park on Saturday to get a year of fund-raising under way.
Emerson Developments, owners of Middlebrook, are supporting the club as their charity of the year and will help to raise money to pay for a full-time mentor to work with local children.
The windscreen wash saw motorists pay 50p a time to have their car windscreens cleaned.
Heather Crank-Ingham, of Emerson, said: "It's been a great day with the volunteers working very hard and we're delighted to be able to support the club.
"People have been very generous and many have given more than 50p towards the cause."
