CHEEKY Cockney duo Chas and Dave play Bolton's Octagon Theatre on Wednesday August 30.

Pianist Chas Hodges and guitarist Dave Peacock teamed up to release their first album as Chas and Dave' in 1975 and quickly established themselves with hits including Rabbit, Ain't No Pleasin' You, The Sideboard Song, Margate and Gertcha.

Now, having established a cult following by touring in clubs, universities and festivals, including Glastonbury last year, they have managed to crack the notoriously difficult USA market, opened for Pete Doherty's band The Libertines at Brixton Academy in 2003 and 2004, and been sampled by controversial US rapper Eminem.

Their recent television appearances include Ant And Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Skinner And Baddiel, Big Brother and Jools Holland's Hootenanny, and their latest two-CD album, From Tottenham To Tennessee, was released in May this year.

And in just case you are wondering following rumours to the contrary Dave is the real Dave. As the duo explain on their website: "Bill Bailey suggested on Never Mind The Buzzcocks that the current 'Dave' in Chas and Dave is some sort of impostor and the rumour started from there. We can confirm that that is definitely not the case Dave is the original."

Chas and Dave are at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, on Wednesday August 30 at 7.30pm.Tickets are £16 (£14 concessions) from the Octagon ticket office on 01204 520661 or at www.octagonbolton.co.uk
