A MOTORCYCLIST from Bolton is riding to John O' Groats in a bid to raise cash for charity.

Simon Johnson, aged 38, of Cedar Avenue, Little Lever, will set out for the 480-mile ride to the tip of the Scottish mainland on Saturday. He hopes to raise more than £800 for The Parkinson's Disease Society, after his father died of the condition.

Mr Johnson said: "My dad died seven years ago of Parkinson's and I just hope this sponsored ride will help raise awareness."

He will set off from Trafford Park at 5.30am on Saturday with his friend Gary Dodd from Chorlton, Manchester. To sponsor Mr Johnson call him on 01204 795333.
