COUNCILLORS have vowed to launch a campaign to see travellers permanently banned from playing fields in Deane.
Caravans moved on to the Hulton Lane playing fields last night.
The fields are among the worst hit areas in Bolton, with Bolton Council spending thousands of pounds every year to clean the site when the campers move on.
The Conservative councillor for the Hulton Ward, Andy Morgan, is angry that travellers have once again gained access to the site.
He said: "This is ridiculous. They were only here three months ago, so we're going to organise some sort of campaign to get this sorted once and for all.
"It annoys me that the powers that be in Bolton refuse to do anything about this. Money needs to be spent securing this site so they cannot gain access to it."
In the last three years, Bolton Council has spent £20,000 evicting travellers and cleaning up after them.
Cllr Morgan is also calling for more legal gypsy sites across Greater Manchester.
Currently, the only existing legal site in the borough is the Crompton Lodge Caravan Park in Hall Lane, Farnworth.
