THE jury in the trial of a Bolton man accused of two rapes has been discharged.
Thomas Rostron, aged 62, of Meadowside Avenue, Tonge Fold, is accused of raping a 79-year-old pensioner at her home, and a woman in an empty classroom at the school where he works as a caretaker.
But the trial collapsed yesterday for reasons which cannot be published, following an order made by judge Tim Clayson at Bolton Crown Court. He ordered a retrial, which has been scheduled for Monday, September 18.
