The racing at Glorious Goodwood this week has been absolutely fabulous to watch and it was good to see Court Masterpiece doing me a favour in the Sussex Stakes beating short priced favourite Araafa.

Tomorrow promises more top class racing with two big events the highlights of the day's proceedings.

Firstly, the group one Nassau Stakes has a cast list that would be worthy of any who's who list of racing. Ed Dunlop's superb, if not temperamental, mare Ouija Board will be out to add another Group One success to her already impressive collection and will most likely carry the favourites tag.

Nannina, winner of the Coronation stakes at Ascot, is on hand to avenge a defeat to Rajeem last time out, while Rajeem looks to build on that success. I could go on but the race is so competitive you could mention every runner.

The second big race is the Stewards Cup and again it is a pretty open affair. I was talking to Channel Four's Derek Thompson, who has been giving exclusive tips on the Betfred website and e-mails this week, and he think it's really four against the field here. Borderlescott, Firenze, Desert Commander and Bentong get Tommo's vote, personally I like the look of Desert Commander who has improved since leaving the Godolphin stable.

The Football League calendar gets underway this weekend and the opening matches are a worthy curtain raiser for a league that constantly surprises and entertains.

There always seems to be one team from the Championship that knocks everybody off balance and comes through to be really successful. Reading were that team last year, Sunderland, Watford and Barnsley have all done the same in the past.

This year my customers seem to be leaning the way of 50/1 chance Derby. I have seen a surprising amount of money in the support of the Rams to win the Championship, but personally I can't see it. I guess we'll have more of an idea as the season progresses. Also this week, Wolves have attracted some support but not in the market you might expect. A steady inflow of cash has been taken on Mick McCarthy's side who currently stand at 22/1 to drop into League One.

The opening game sees Luton take on Leicester in front of the Sky cameras at 12:30pm on Saturday. In the office we have had a few discussions about Luton's chances this time around. After a superb first season, promotion player departures have weakened their squad severely this summer and 7/1 to drop out of the championship may be worth considering.

Leicester, on the other hand, began to show real signs of life towards the end of last season and I fully expect them to build on that momentum. Kenilworth Road is not an easy place to go but I am going for an away win, the Foxes price for that is 7/4.

Before I go I just want to say good luck to all the Football League teams this year, here's to a good season!
